Music notes from Ralph, archive

APRIL 29

The SPC Choir presents Bob Chilcott’s Song, based on the beautiful Gerard Manley Hopkins poem, and Virgil Thomson’s exuberant setting of My Shepherd Will Supply My Need.

MAY 6

The choir will sing John Rutter’s gorgeous setting of Deep River. We also repeat the elegant Communion anthem, This Is the Hour, by Alan Smith. The choir gave the first SPC performance of this wonderful work on Palm Sunday and the great reaction calls for an early encore.

MAY 20

To celebrate the 7th Sunday of the Easter Season, the choir will reprise Benjamin Britten’s exuberant Jubilate Deo (O Be Joyful in the Lord) and John Rutter’s lovely A Clare Benediction, composed for the wondrous Chapel Choir of Clare College, Cambridge.
