Elders and Deacons
At the heart SPC is a community of faith, hope, love, and creative service to our human family. SPC’s elders regularly provide innovative, intelligent and loving service and oversight, guided with great skill and sensitivity by our Pastor/Moderator, Rev. Paul Mowry. Regular stated session meetings are held monthly throughout most of the year, with additional special meetings as needed.
The session is charged with overseeing all aspects of the faith journey of the congregation, church administration, operations and technology, all ministries and task forces, and complete financial accounting and management.
The fruits of session leadership include our creative liturgical services, our continual service of love and support to our congregation, greater Sausalito community and the world and our fully developed mission projects in Mexico, Africa, South Africa and Marin City.
The session oversaw the development of a rich online service during COVID and is now engaged in creating an innovative hybrid service, on Earth and in the cloud, that joins our in-person live Sunday service with a growing online participating congregation from around the country and the world.

I have been attending Sausalito Presbyterian Church since 1985. I serve as an elder and usher, and have coordinated the ushers in the past. I am the Co-chair of Earth Care—enroll in the free Resilientneigborhoods.org program to learn over 100 actions to cool the planet, and am the church's representative to Marin Interfaith Climate Action. Sustainable actions, no matter how small, all make a difference. We are all in this together.

I have attended SPC with my wife Jill since 1989, and our son Kevin grew up in the church. I am now the President of the Congregation as well as Chair of Finance, sing in the church choir, and dearly love the supportive community at our church along with its philosophy of realizing there are more questions than answers in religion. I am a primary care physician practicing in San Francisco, live in Mill Valley, and we love caring for our Golden Retriever, Kona.

I am from a midwestern Presbyterian heritage. My wife and l were married at SPC and have been attending since 1972, substantially due to the welcoming and supportive culture, and the openness to inclusive theological interpretation. Our daughter was born into the church and remains a member. I’ve served on the Session; also Board of the Presbytery, the San Francisco Theological Seminary and the Graduate Theological Union. My background includes chemical research, corporate management and executive search. I am a voracious reader, aging athlete, backpacker and sailor. I enjoy interacting with people socially and intellectually—which this congregation provides.

I value connections. When I walked by SPC sometime prior to joining the church in January 1982, the inviting message, like a magnetic and loving force, drew me in. Here I have discovered what a truly welcoming church is and I found a family that gave me the personal courage to be who I truly am without pretenses or disguise. Not that I haven’t donned a disguise over the past 42 years…I have served as a Deacon (and Moderator of the group) on two separate occasions where I joined in the fun of dressing as a clown, one of the “SPC critter crusaders”, participating in the annual 4th of July Sausalito Parade and visiting children, the infirmed, and the elderly in local hospitals and care facilities; and, as one of the volunteers at the SPC food booths at the Sausalito Art Festival and Jazz by the Bay local events. My 43 years of Federal human resource experience led to serving as an Elder and contributing to personnel matters at the church. I enjoy spending time with my precious Winslow, my Border Jack Terrier; visiting my daughter, Shannon, and her family in Pacific Grove, California; and, watching intriguing TV shows like Candice Renoir and anything from New Zealand ideally featuring Antonia Prebble. I am honored to be serving as an Elder once again with lofty yet achievable goals to build and enhance connections with new and longtime congregants by welcoming you and inviting your participation in growing our church family while forming meaningful connections.

I started attending SPC in 2001 to sing with their incredible choir. At the time I thought of myself as "spiritual not religious", having avoided churches much of my adult life. But, SPC was like nothing I'd ever experienced. Their inclusiveness made me feel welcomed and accepted, regardless of my beliefs. Pastor Paul, the music, the messages, and the church community truly touched me. Their support and caring during life's crises got me through. I had found a home. SPC is truly a family that calls itself a church!
I have served in various capacities at SPC including Stewardship, Marketing/Outreach and as a Session Elder, Liturgist and Choir tenor. I grew up in North Carolina and attended the University of NC. I had a 35-year career in the Technology industry, retiring as a Marketing executive. I was married for 35 years to my beloved Bill, who passed in 2021. I enjoy reading, music, traveling, hanging out with friends and cuddling with my kitty.

I transferred my membership from First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, where I was baptized and confirmed. I became a deacon, sound board operator, and Mission committee member before my wife Maggie and I moved back to Portland, Oregon, where her family lives. Today, I’m a fully remote member and Zoom Elder, collaborating to create a better virtual church experience.

I’ve been attending SPC since 2001. My husband Bob and I were married at SPC in July 2001. Being just new to California I felt the warmth and care of all the Sausalito family. I have been part of the Mission Committee and be able to help the orphans and indigenous families of my own Country through the generosity of this community. I’m happy to be able to serve in other capacities and be part of SPC. I love to cook, read, travel and exercise.

I came to SPC in the nineties and was drawn by the energy and involvement of the members of the church. I was a member of the Deacons at that time. Work took me too far away to participate for a number of years. Since I returned and re-joined I am now happy to be involved as a liturgist, member of the Mission Committee and member of the Session. I am retired and enjoy spending time with the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine on their Dean’s Leadership Council. Their work is my heart’s philanthropic connection. I also am a mom to four dogs who remind me of the importance of living in the moment.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

The Rev. George McLaird, now SPC Pastor Emeritus, married my first husband and me in 1980. George baptized and performed adoption ceremonies for our two boys, Kevin and Ross Corbett, who participated in SPC youth programs. I have been singing in the choir since 1997 and co-led Vision 2002 for SPC. I have been an Elder and a Deacon. Alan Glas and I blended our families in 2003, and I gained two lovely daughters (Rachel and Zoe Glas), who both worked at the church, helping with weddings. We have six grandchildren (all boys). My professional career consists of nearly 40 years in management working at Pacific Bell, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and West Marin Senior Services. Hobbies include skiing, kayaking, bridge, and singing. SPC has been a constant in my adult life, and I cherish the community, music, and spiritual practice it provides. As the years progress, my friendships and spiritual inspiration at SPC continue to deepen, enhanced by my role as Moderator of the Deacons.

I was raised in La Jolla, graduated from Cal Berkeley, lived for more than 20 years in North Lake Tahoe (both Nevada and California) with my children and architect-husband. After my husband’s death I moved to Marin in 2011 where I met Hank Van Dyke, long-time member of SPC. Hank and I were married at SPC in January 2013 and were faithful members until his death in 2018. I have carried on the love of SPC and its wonderful people. I have been a Realtor in areas of Nevada and California for nearly 50 years. I have also worked with charities and non-profit organizations as well as mentoring and training new Realtors.

I’ve lived in Mill Valley for over 33 years. Having attended United Methodist, St. Hilary and St. Andrews Presbyterian churches in the past. My husband, Brian and I discovered SPC in 2023 during a candlelight vigil for Ukraine. We’ve never stopped since! I am a graduate of SFSU, majoring in Philosophy, with an emphasis in Comparative Religion. Brian and I have come to dearly love the supportive community at SPC, with it’s philosophy of realizing there are more questions than answers in religion and thought. My passions are cooking, gardening, camping and golf. As well as our sweet fur baby, Bella.

My family and I have attended Sausalito Presbyterian Church (SPC) for many decades. Both my kids were baptized here and grew up with a solid spiritual foundation in a family-like culture. I’m a fine artist and I love that members come from a variety of backgrounds, life experiences and talents. It’s such a joy to work with each one as we put our creative thoughts together to support this church.
